What to expect for tryouts ~
Cheerleaders trying out for the squad will be evaluated in the following areas: sideline, dance, tumbling, fitness and overall impression. Please read below for the specifics of what we will be looking for/at in the evaluation areas.
Sideline/Dance– Cheerleaders will be taught basic chants and band dances at try outs. You will then be asked to execute these skills in a mock game setting. We will be evaluating your motions, cleanliness, energy, crowd appeal, and crowd leading ability. Demonstrations will be given at try outs as to the type of crowd leading that we are looking for; we expect you to adapt to a collegiate style of crowd leading and demonstrate that.
Tumbling- Cheerleaders should demonstrate their most difficult standing and running tumbling passes. Tumbling is not mandatory however preference will be given to candidates with tumbling ability.
Overall Impression – This evaluation will be a culmination of what we see over the course of the try out. Attitude, how well you work with others, personal interview, etc.
